One of the most fun parts of my day job is the work lunch! It’s an opportunity to show appreciation for your clients, vendors and co-workers and not necessarily have to talk business. There are so many places to go all over Charleston, in particular on the peninsula. St. Alban on upper King Street is my latest find.
Such a cool interior…very French Bistro. Cool fixtures, great use of space for storage. I felt transformed to a different place immediately upon entry.
The handwritten menu is so charming! Hard boiled egg sammy, please!
This is the best(and most creative) sandwich I have had in forever…hard boiled egg with arugula with pickled fennel. No words!
Fun merchandise from St. Alban and other local artisans! Counter order, self-serve drinks, totally hip barista on hand if you want a café au lait post nosh. Most definitely worth a try-and is on my list going forward. Happy Tuesday friends!

The last week has been uber-Full! Lots of work, lots of fun…and a new in-town adventure on a rainy day!!
Chez Nous might be the best new lunch/brunch/dinner spot in town!!! Ans and I ventured out in the cold and rain for Sunday brunch and enjoyed some much needed catch up time. Chez did not disappoint. Located on Payne Court downtown, it felt like we were invited into someone’s home for a warm and cozy breakfast by the fire. After walking through a delightful courtyard, we were greeted by an extremely chic hostess (wearing classic Le Petit Bateau) and seated in an immaculately decorated alcove.
The menus are created daily…though not many choices, a feast just the same! I had the Omlette aux Champigants with wild mushrooms and aged Gouda. It was served with a salad frisee and radishes. DELISH…I cleaned my plate! We shared the chocolate mousse and lemon boudin with sea-salt caramel-becuase, why not!

My weekly journey to Madewell was a hit! As per usual, the sale rack is full of fantastic finds. I love this Silk Blouse -great for layering this winter!!
I also picked up this Cargo Workshirt in slate grey on super sale! Not bad for a 15 minute run through!!
Happy Hump Day friends…I’m off to Charlotte for business (and a little shopping too!). We are hoping to hit Nordstrom and West Elm before we have to head back! XOXO, Catherine
Good news everybody!! There is definitely no shortage of new restaurants in Charleston-how does one find the time to try them all??!
A friend suggested that we lunch date at Brasserie Gigi on the market. I have to admit…as in the loop as I think I am, I had not heard of it. Anything remotely French has my heart so it was an automatic and enthusiastic YES!
Gigi’s is located on North Market just down from Peninsula Grill. I arrived and was pleasantly surprised to see an old space totally revitalized looking like a cafe you might find on the Rue de Montparnasse in Paris.
The menu was to die for…traditional French cuisine and a mouth watering raw bar selection. We settled on French Onion soup and the speciale de jour…seafood crepes with frites! DEE-vine!
Another venture from Charleston restauranteur Hank Holiday Brasserie Gigi has the chops put the Market back on the list of places to go see and be seen!
If it had been another day…we would have cozied up and spent our afternoon drinking Champy with the rest of the natty crowd that was in attendance. We restrained promising the next visit would be in the PM for the whole Brasserie Gigi experience. Where is your new fav in our metro??! I’m always up for suggestions!
