December, What’s Happening…

I can not believe it’s December.  I don’t know about you…but this one snuck up on me!  Work is in no danger of slowing down, fun parties and holiday obligations are ramping up-it can be a lot!  When it’s most hectic I have to take a beat, read a page, work it out, etc or I’ll go bonkers!  Here is a look at some of my quiet moments for December.  Enjoy!

~I’m Reading:  A Paris Winter by Imogen Robertson is a novel about a young English art student living on the edge of financial run and hunger in Paris at the turn of the 20th century.  Fate throws her an opportunity to continue her studies without the constant threat of ruin…but all is not what it seems.  An easy read, cozy up by the fire, quick to the finish novel.  I recommend!

The Paris Winter

I’m Ordering:  Another attempt at keeping my hair smooth in the humid Charleston climate, Purely Perfect Cleansing Cream.  This “un-shampoo” is devoid of all harsh detergents and includes Aloe Vera and essential oils to treat, rather than strip your hair and scalp.  Let’s be honest…if it works 25% of the time…it’s a success!

Purely Perfect

I’m Eagerly Awaiting:  Into the Woods directed by Rob Marshall starring Meryl Streep, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine and Depp-among many others.  It looks like the typical, schmaltzy, wonderful offering we are so used to from Rob Marshall and I cannot wait!  Perfect for a Christmas Day release.

into-the-woods-poster1I’m Glossing:  I know, shocked right-a new gloss, it’s so unlike me!  On a recent shopping trip a friend introduced me to Yves Saint Laurent Gloss Volupte #20 Nude Carat!  Delish…the color is wearable on it’s own or perfect over a darker lipstick (think YSL The Mats lipstick in Rouge Rock!!).
YSL gloss volupte #20Check out Punch Hutton’s 2014 Holiday Gift Guide on Vanity Fair online.  It’s chock full of out of this world suggestions for everyone on your list!  My personal favorite is one of the more subdued selections…this Clare Vivier Catchall.  I might be ordering and putting this beaut under the tree for ME!

Fall into Inspiration…

I don’t know about you…but at this point in the summer I am ready to 86 my entire closet, press the reset button and move into Fall attire.    I cannot wait for football weekends, oyster roasts, tall boots and new denim.   Too bad it’s still 90 degrees.

As I looked online last night the following images are my top four looks for fall (thank you Pinterest!!).  Time to purge, look into possible investment pieces and GO!!!!!!

fringe booties

I love-love the bootie, fringed kimono and over-sized clutch in this snap.   The booties and purse are a must this Fall.  Nordstrom has these suede bad boys from Sole Society,  this option from Isola with gold hardware and these rag & bone beauties (worth the investment).  Clare Vivier has the ultimate flat clutch.  Check out her website.  It’s amaze.

uniform

The above is pretty much my fall uniform.  It has all the pieces that I love the most…Madewell crisp white oversized shirt, distressed skinnys, leopard heels, over-sized watch and aviators.  Bluefly has a luxury pre-owned department that guarantees brands such as YSL, Louis Vuitton and this Chanel Quilted bag similar to the above.  Definitely worth the occasional peruse…

work skirt

There are so many things I idolize in this look.  I imagine she is off to lunch at Le Cirque after securing a three movie deal for her client Miss X in the latest YA film franchise.   This look is a BIG time reminder that I need to ramp up my daytime attire.  Ann Taylor as become one of my favorite places to shop for work wear.  The price point is right on target-and they have given the every day basic a new edge that I love!  This color blocked skirt and silk top are great transition pieces.  Once the fall cool off begins, throw on this Moto Jacket from Nordstrom and voilà!

jeans sweater

Whereeeee do I start!  I think I have found THE pair of jeans that I will wear to death this winter.  Madewell has the greatest denim bar-and has added the skinny skinny jean: deconstructed version to their already stellar line up.  I tried these on the other day-they fit my oddly shaped body like a glove.  For me to feel good in jeans out of the gate is a huge accomplishment.  They are the perfect fit for curves, but hug in all the right places-legs are stovepipe…perfect for heels and tall boots!   Pair them with a crispy white button down from Thomas Pink, JCrew boyfriend sweater, sassy T-Strap pumps and you are good to go just about anywhere!

It’s so much fun to think about all of these great looks…I’ll probably be able to live them in about 4 months!  The thermometer hit 97` today in Chuck-town!  Still scorching on the coast…as it should be!  Hope everyone is having a fantastic week!

XOXO,  Catherine
