Ay Kimono…

Do you??!  Kimono’s hit the scene as something other than something eccentric Aunt Edna used to wear until about 2 years ago.

The ever stylish Devon Rachel posted about her new favorite kimono and the different ways she would be styling it.  I had to run out and buy the very one…thus the beginning of my love affair with this interesting piece of clothing.

Kimono 2

I scored this cutie…half shrug, half kimono at II Brunettes.  I needed something to go over my shockingly non-tan arms and this totally did the trick!  The price point is uber-reasonable and they have many color/length choices.  I debuted it with my Joe’s Jeans Vintage Reserve skinny’s, Joie Silk Tank **on sale at piperlime.com, Jeffrey Campbell Heels and jewels from Melvin, Vanessa Mooney and Ann Ladson Jewelry.

Other adorable options are the Mystic Pearl Cover Up from Billabong, the Swell Wanderer Embroidered Top (love the long sleeves, perfect for fall), this Awesome Kimono Maxi dress from Nordstrom, and this option from Topshop.

In other news as we move into the weekend (YEA, YIPEE,  HOORAY!!!) Gigi New York is having their summer sale.  Their famous Uber Clutch, Teddie Tote and Crossbody are all on super sale.  Get on it!

I am headed out of town this weekend for a true ROAD TRIP with my girls to see some great live music in Macon, Georgia.  I can’t wait!  Watching the clock this morning for sure!  Have a wonderful weekend friends!  XOXO,  Catherine

Weekend Away…

And not a moment too soon (oh lordy life is busy!!). We are going to the quiet beach side community of Ocean Isle, NC for our annual high school girls weekend!  I always over pack-so this year I am trying to focus on quality NOT quantity.  Thankfully the weekend will consist of relaxing at the beach house so I don’t have to worry about day and night looks.  My wardrobe (should) consist of comfortable pieces that will work for cocktails at the house or if we head out for the delicious locally caught seafood Ocean Isle is known for.  Weekend EssentialsBillabong Lightweight sweatshirt (available in store at Salty Girls) $45/Joe’s Jeans Vintage Reserve Tammy Amazon.com $98
Jack Rogers Neon Vachetta Thong Amazon.com $98 (I’m totally obsessed!!)/Old Navy Chambray Shirt Old Navy $15

Weekend Essentials 2Other weekend essentials include my favorite necklaces by Melvin and Jennifer Zeuner, Christina Jervey square hoop earrings and gold shoulder duster earrings from II Brunettes.  Sample size skin and hair care products (who needs to carry full size for a 72 hour trip!!) and my Kindle Fire.  I just downloaded Tilar Mazzeo’s new novel The Hotel on Place Vendome.

We will be making these delicious Orange-Lime Margaritas created by Emily author of one of my favorite blogs- Cupcakes and Cashmere and enjoying tons of tasty treats courtesy of this talented crew!  Maybe I’ll share some favorite recipes next week in Nosh.
Rain is in our forecast so I predict plenty of cocktails, card games, chit-chat and fun for a group of friends with a 25 year history.
Whatever you are doing this weekend I hope it is spectacular!  xoxo,  Catherine
